The RESNET National Registry is one of the most comprehensive databases on the energy performance of homes in the U.S. This data will prove to be invaluable in expanding the credibility of HERS® Ratings. For example, the data will allow Real Estate Appraisers to locate HERS® rated homes and consider the home’s energy performance in the appraisal. A great amount of the data contained in the registry is sensitive and needs to be protected. In order to define the boundaries for RESNET’s release of data contained in the registry, the RESNET Board of Directors developed a “Proposed Policy on RESNET Access to Data in the RESNET National Buildings Registry.” To view the proposed policy, go to Proposed Policy on RESNET Access to Data in the RESNET National Buildings Registry . Contrary to rumors being spread, this policy in no way restricts a HERS® Rater to submit required documentation on a home’s HERS® Rating to code officials, utility programs or green home programs. It only defines what RESNET can release. RESNET is seeking public comments on the proposed policy. Send any comments you have to RESNET Executive Director Steve Baden at sbaden@resnet.us The deadline for submitting comments is Thursday, November 30, 2017.
