The International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) is on a three-year update process. The 2021 IECC amendment cycle is now underway. Proposed amendments had to have been submitted to the International Code Council (ICC) by January 14, 2019. The RESNET Board has approved the following proposed amendments to the 2021 IECC: Update to ANSI/RESNET/ICC Standard 301 to Reference Modified 2019 Version – This is simply an update proposal to incorporate the changes that have been made to the 301 since it was incorporated by ICC into the Energy Rating Index (ERI) in 2016. The proposed amendment is posted at Proposed Modified Standard 301 Amendment Update to ANSI/RESNET/ICC Standard 380 to Reference 2019 Version – This is simply an update proposal to incorporate the changes that have been made to Standard 380 since it was incorporated by ICC into the IECC for blower door testing in 2016. The proposed amendment is posted at Proposed Modified Standard 380 Amendment Reference Standard 380 for Duct Leakage Testing – While the ICC incorporated Standard 380 for blower testing in 2016, it failed to do so for duct testing. This would be a repeat of the RESNET proposal for the 2018 IECC amendment. The proposed amendment is posted at Proposed Standard 380 for Duct Leakage Testing Revision of the 2018 IECC Amended ERI on Ventilation – The 2018 IECC modified the reference of ANSI/RESNET/ICC standard 301 on calculating compliance to Section 405 of the IECC. This proposed amendment restates the requirements of Standard 301. The proposed amendment is posted at Proposed ERI Ventilation Reference Home Amendment ERI Quality Assurance and Implementation– This is actually three proposed amendments rolled into one. The changes spell out quality assurance and implementation requirements in the ERI. The proposed amendment is posted at ERI Quality Assurance and Implementation Amendment The ICC will be posting the proposed changes to the 2021 IECC on March 4, 2019. The ICC will conduct Committee Action Hearings on the proposed amendments at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, NM on April 28 to May 8, 2019. The Public Hearing on Committee Actions will take place in Las Vegas, NV on October 23 – 30, 2019. RESNET staff will be present at both hearings and be providing testimony. Members of the HERS® Rating Industry are also encouraged to participate.
