RESNET strives to provide certified RESNET HERS® Raters with opportunities to expand their business offerings. HVAC performance verification offers such an exciting opportunity. Increasingly builders, utility programs are looking for certified professionals to verify the performance of a home’s HVAC system. A properly sized and installed HVAC system is one of the most critical factors for a high energy performance home. To ensure that the HVAC system is operating at peak performance it requires a qualified contractor and a qualified third party verifier. RESNET and the North American Technician Excellence (NATE) are pleased to announce the new NATE Certified RESNET HERS® Rater HVAC Performance Verifier Certification. For the past four years RESNET has worked with NATE in developing a certification and test for certified RESNET HERS® Raters to be recognized as a professional HVAC system performance verifier. The certification is entirely voluntarily and RESNET is not charging HERS® Raters for the opportunity. In order to provide certified RESNET HERS® Raters with the tools to gain the necessary knowledge for the NATE certification, RESNET developed curriculum and training materials that it has provided to RESNET accredited Rater Training Providers at no cost. Training is not required for the certification but it is highly recommended in order for a HERS® Rater to be able to pass the NATE test. HERS® Raters who are interested in taking the training or standing for the NATE HERS® Rater HVAC Performance Verifier test should contact a RESNET accredited Rater Training Provider.
