RESNET has entered into a partnership with the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) to promote the improvement of home energy performance in the United States. ACCA and RESNET has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The MOU spells out how the two organizations will cooperate to meet this goal while assisting the growth of both organizations. and their memberships. The MOU provides for: Develop joint ANSI standard for HVAC system installation evaluation in the Energy Rating Index and in the Home Energy Rating Score Index process. RESNET and ACCA will work cooperatively within the RESNET Standards Development Committee 300 to develop the RESNET/ACCA/ANSI Standard 310 “Standard for Grading the Installation of HVAC Systems”. Work cooperatively to support the implementation of EPA’s ENERGY STAR New Homes Program. Each organization will inform its members of the required technical competence (and supporting training offered to provide or enhance those skill sets) and will provide organizational oversight to ensure that their respective participants continue to perform as specified. For legislative and regulatory concerns, the RESNET and ACCA government affairs staffs will coordinate on items of mutual interest. As appropriate, individuals from ACCA and RESNET, and/or their memberships, may be invited to serve on specific organizational or technical committees of interest to help promote the free exchange of ideas. RESNET and ACCA will each offer to the other a complementary booth at their respective trade shows during the annual conferences. ACCA and RESNET will also interact to identify pertinent sessions and speakers to participate in the educational sessions offered at their conferences. ACCA is a non-profit association whose membership includes more than 60,000 professionals and 4,000 businesses in the indoor environment and energy services community. The organization promotes professional contracting, energy efficiency, and healthy, comfortable indoor environments. This MOU strengthens RESNET’s bonds with a vital stakeholder group of RESNET and the HERS® industry.
