A new certification will soon be available for certified RESNET Home Energy Raters. The certification is the North American Technician Excellence (NATE)’s HVAC Performance Verification Certification. NATE is the nation’s largest non-profit certification organization for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration. The new NATE HVAC Performance Verification Certification for certified Home Energy Raters will provide credibility to raters in reviewing load calculations and quality assurance reviews of the quality of installation of HVAC systems for such programs as EPA’s ENERGY STAR Certified Homes and HVAC Quality Installation programs and ACCA’s Residential Service & Installation (RSI) Program.. To qualify for the new NATE HVAC Performance Verification Certification certified Home Energy Raters must pass a NATE test. RESNET worked with NATE in developing the test. Brett Dillon of IBS Advisors, Lee O’Neal of MABTEC and Dennis Stroer of CalcsPlus represented RESNET in the development of the test. A beta version of the test will soon be available for certified RESNET Home Energy Raters through participating RESNET accredited Rating Providers. A recruiting notice to Training Providers and Home Energy Raters will soon be sent out. This new NATE HVAC Performance Verification Certification offers current home raters the opportunity to expand into the existing homes market. By adding existing home rater services, certified HVAC Performance Verification raters can experience increased revenue, higher margins, and better customer satisfaction.
