RESNET® sent the notice included below January 25, 2019, advising the 2019 Updates to Standards ANSI/RESNET/ICC 301 and ANSI/RESNET/ICC 380 had been completed by RESNET and approved by ANSI. That notice also advised the 2019 Update editions would replace the first editions of the Standards for the RESNET HERS® as of a future date to be determined later. Addendum 42 makes the necessary changes to the MINHERS® (RESNET HERS) to implement the replacement. RESNET’s new standard for adoption and implementation of Amendments to the MINHERS® that govern the RESNET HERS, authorizes the RESNET Standards Management Board to define an Effective Date, (the date when an addendum may first be used), a Transition Period (when addenda may be used but are not yet required to be used) and a Transition Period End Date (that date when use becomes mandatory) for Amendments. The Publication (Final Approval) Date, Effective Date, Transition Period (length) and the Transition Period End Date for Addendum 42 are as follows: Publication Date: May 24, 2019 Effective Date: October 1, 2019 Transition Period: Nine (9) months Transition Period End Date: July 1, 2020 Note: During the Transition Period either Standards 301-2014 and 380-2016 together or Standards 301-2019 and 380-2019 together must be used for HERS® ratings. Ratings may not be made by selecting a mix of requirements from the different editions of the Standards. Addendum 42 makes changes to Chapters of the MINHERS® essential to the change from Standard 301-2014 to Standard 301-2019 and from Standard 380-2016 to Standard 380-2019 as basis for the RESNET HERS. Changes include but are not limited to: revision of the Standards 301 and 380 editions referenced in Chapter 2 and Chapter 3; elimination of certain “Exceptions” to Standard 301 identified in section 303 that are now covered by Standard 301-2019: elimination of Appendix A that is now included in Standard 301-2019 Appendix B; addition of Threshold Ratings to the list of ratings referenced in the Chapters, and; revision of other referenced standards in the Chapters.
