RESNET and the home energy rating industry lost a strong friend and advocate with the passing of Brian Hanson. Brian was the lead programmer for the EnergyGauge USA residential rating software program for the Florida Solar Energy Center. Brian greatly expanded the features of the software, incorporating detailed solar water heating and photovoltaic algorithms important in analyzing new zero energy homes for various state and federal programs. Brian was a fixture at the RESNET Building Performance, EEBA and ACI conferences. Anyone who had the opportunity to meet and work with him will remember his infectious sense of humor that matched his technical knowledge and commitment to the home energy rating industry Brian was employed at the Florida Solar Energy Center since 2000. Before joining the center, he spent nine years working on the Ground Computer Systems for the Titan program at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. Brian will be missed by his colleagues at RESNET and the home energy rating industry.
