The HERS® community has lost a friend with the passing of Shawn Purcell. For many years Shawn was a certified HERS® Rater and Quality Assurance Designee in the Louisville, Kentucky housing market. Mark Jansen of Energy Efficient Homes commented on Shawn’s passing, “He was a good friend and a good home energy rater. He was always happy and pleasant in all my dealings with him. He will be sorely missed.” Shawn passed away on August 21, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Pat Purcell; his son, Colin (Kara); daughter, Kendall (Carson); his mother, Elizabeth; brothers, Kevin and Brian; sisters, Colleen, Maureen, Cheryl, Sheila, and Shannon; grandchildren, Ryan and Arlo; and a wealth of family and close friends. He loved cycling, tennis, peanut butter, and ice cream. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Olmsted Parks Conservancy to honor Shawn Purcel.
