Jul 29, 2013

Georgia Power is an electric utility headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. It is the largest of the four electric utilities that are owned and operated by Southern Company.  Georgia Power serves more than 2.25 million customers in all but four of Georgia’s 159 counties

Georgia Power is undertaking a concerted public education campaign on the HERS® Index in their service area.  The campaign includes radio ads, newspaper ads and billboards in the major urban areas of the state.

As part of the consumer education effort Georgia Power has produced two excellent videos aimed at educating consumers on the HERS® Index.

The first video production is a one minute overview of the HERS® Index.  The video “How Can You Tell if a Home is Energy Efficient?”.    The production explains how the HERS® Index simplifies knowing how energy efficient a home is.  It concludes that “You don’t have to be an expert, ask for the HERS® Index.”

The second video “What is a HERS® Rating?” is a three minute production that provides a more though explanation of what a HERS® Index is and how a rating is conducted.  It states that “knowing  a home’s energy rating makes the invisible visible.”  The production concludes “be comfortable in your new home, be confident in its energy savings, ask your builder for the HERS® Score.”
