RESNET® Announces Standards Action Change to the Mandatory Compliance Date for Addendum 46, MINHERS Chapter 6, Sampling Update Addendum 78i, Elimination of Sampled Ratings for Single-Family Dwelling Units Addendum 46 is a major update to the MINHERS Chapter 6 Sampled Ratings criteria for Single Family Dwelling Units and Dwelling Units in Multi-Family buildings. The Addendum has a Voluntary Compliance Date (VCD) of January 1, 2024, and was originally scheduled for a Mandatory Compliance Date (MCD) of July 1, 2024. There have been several developments since the Standards Management Board (SMB) established and the original MCD published it with the Addendum. The following clarifications are intended to provide the essential information necessary for the transition to the new requirements of Chapter 6: #1 The Mandatory Compliance Date (MCD) for Addendum 46 has been moved to July 1, 2025. #2 RESNET has adopted Addendum 78i, Single Family Sampling, which eliminates Sampled Ratings for Single Family Dwelling Units with building permits issued on or after January 1, 2025. The impacts of the Addenda are: Sampled Ratings for Single Family Dwelling Units will be allowed using either the current Chapter 6 criteria or using the criteria of Addendum 46 for homes with building permits issued before January 1, 2025. Sampled Ratings will not be allowed for Single Family Dwelling Units with building permit dates on or after January 1, 2025, using either set of criteria. Sampled Ratings for Dwelling Units in Multi-Family buildings will be allowed using either the current Chapter 6 criteria or the Addendum 46 criteria for buildings with building permits issued before July 1, 2025. Sampled Ratings for Dwelling Units in Multi-Family buildings with building permit dates on or after July 1, 2025, will only be allowed to use the Addendum 46 criteria. Note: “Building Permit Date” for the RESNET HERS® is the date the permit for construction of a building is issued.
