Draft PDS-02 MINHERS® Addendum 58, Pre-Drywall Inspections QA Proposed Addendum 58 Revises Chapter 9 of the MINHERS® to clarify the status of Pre-Drywall Field QA reviews in the total required Field QA reviews. The existing language for Pre-drywall Field QA reviews is confusing for Providers to implement and implies that Pre-drywall Field QA reviews are of lesser value than Final Field QA reviews. By stressing Field Quality Assurance reviews at the final stage, the current standard language contributes to a lack of education and oversight of the HERS® Rater/RFI activities at the pre-drywall stage such as insulation verification, insulation grading, framing verification, framing factor verification, and total duct leakage testing. The intent is to allow Providers and QADs to emphasize QA at whatever construction stage it is needed, and exercise their judgement to ensure their QA activities represent a good cross section of the HERS® Rater’s or RFI’s body of work. Standards Development Committee 900 submitted the interim version of this addendum, Addendum 58i which is currently in effect, for public comment and has approved revisions to draft PDS-01 based on comments received. Some of those revisions that are incorporated in draft PDS-02 are substantive and are submitted for public review and comment.
