Steve Baden has worked in the residential energy efficiency field for over twenty five years, including eighteen years with home energy ratings and energy mortgages on both the state and national levels, and ten years administering a state energy office. Mr. Baden initiated the “Warm Homes for Alaskans Initiative” which received the “”1993 National Award for the Most Outstanding State Housing Program”” from the National Council of State Housing Agencies. Steve was also awarded “Lifetime Achievement Awards” from the U.S. Department of Energy and RESNET.

Cardice Howard

Cardice Howard brings 27 years of operations management experience as an insulation contractor in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas market along with her passion as an insulation Industry advocate to the RESNET team. Cardice has worked as an insulation contractor, developing and maintaining cohesive relationships with builders, code officials, sales and operations staff. Ms. Howard built teams to support over $2 million in sales per month in the Dallas/Fort Worth market, focusing on business development and strategic planning.

Faye Berriman

Faye Berriman is a professional accountant, holding degrees from California State University, Northridge in Accountancy and in Business Management. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. Keenly interested in the nonprofit community both professionally and as a volunteer, with over 35 years experience, she has served on many nonprofit boards and currently serves as a Board Member of Family Hope Center, Inc. and Southern California Conferences for Undergraduate Research. As an accountant Faye has been responsible for planning, budgeting, executing, supervising, and concluding all areas of audits for nonprofit organizations as well as compilation, consulting, and tax services. Faye also has performed internal audits, internal control, operating efficiency, and expense reduction reviews, and has researched and implemented programs for resource development. Faye has also lectured professionally on nonprofit financial accounting and reporting requirements.

Valerie Briggs

Valerie served as the Director of Marketing and Business Development at North American Technician Excellence (NATE), overseeing business development, advertising, marketing, and public relations activities for the organization. Prior to joining NATE, Ms. Briggs worked as Senior Director of External Communications and Marketing Outreach for the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA), a national health care trade association representing the interests of the owners of over 23,000 independent retail pharmacies. She was previously responsible for marketing and training for the Social Security Administration’s Ticket to Work Program, a healthcare and employment program for people with disabilities.

Scott Doyle

Scott Doyle joined the HERS® industry as a HERS® Rater in 2003. Since being certified as a rater Scott has inspected and tested the energy performance of thousands of homes across a variety of construction types and climate zones. In 2007 he became a RESNET certified Quality Assurance Designee and Trainer. Mr. Doyle oversaw quality assurance activities for EnergyLogic and five other RESNET HERS® Rating Providers. This involved quality assurance oversight of nearly 10,000 homes annually that were HERS® rated. From 2008-2014, as a Rater Trainer, Scott trained hundreds of energy professionals across the U.S. using a variety of formats including field, classroom, and e-learning

Laurel Elam

Laurel Elam took her passion for the environment and sustainability development that was fostered at Appalachian State University where she became the first Project Manager at App State’s Energy Center and has built a 20-year career in residential energy efficiency. The dedication to her work has enabled her career to go in numerous directions.

Beginning with RESNET in 2010 as the RESNET Conference Coordinator Laurel took notice of the rating industry’s needs and showcased the technical and policy focuses of the organization. Shortly afterwards, in 2013 she also began serving as RESNET’s Quality Assurance Manager.  Her diligent pursuit to improve RESNET’s Quality Assurance program led her into the role of RESNET’s Director of Quality Assurance Administration and Standards in 2018. She was integral in growing RESNET’s Quality Assurance procedures to become the gold standard in the rating industry. She now proud to be RESNET’s Senior Director for Business Development.

Billy Giblin

Billy Giblin has worked in the high performance building and energy efficiency industry for over ten years. He started this work with a general contractor performing new and retrofit construction. Billy later earned a degree in Energy Management, an energy efficiency engineering program. He went to work with Nexant in 2010, providing quality assurance for utility new home programs and state existing home programs. Billy has been an active HERS® Rater since 2011 and is both a LEED for Homes Quality Assurance Designee and a RESNET Quality Assurance Designee. He has completed over a thousand QA field inspections and performance tests of HERS® rated new homes, as well as QA review of thousands of energy models. Billy played a prominent role in Utah in HERS® Rater training, mentoring and technical support, as well as providing QA, training, and technical support to builders and trade contractors. His previous outdoor education and guiding experience has given him the skills to mentor and motivate people of all ages and abilities, and he utilizes these skills to train and mentor professionals in the high performance home industry.

Jordi Kimbrough

Jordi Kimbrough has been a dedicated professional in the HERS industry for the past eight years, providing essential service to rating companies and Rating Quality Assurance Providers. Most recently, as the Quality Assurance and Training Manager at EnergyLogic, Jordi led a team of Quality Assurance Designees and Rater Instructors. In her previous role as the Energy Professional Services Team Lead, Jordi served as the account manager and primary contact for all external and third-party providership clients. Assisting nearly 100 individuals in various national markets, Jordi oversaw the quality assurance compliance of approximately 9,000 ratings per year for entities ranging from individual rater/owners to those with teams of Raters and RFIs. This extensive experience has given her an in-depth understanding of the unique advantages and challenges associated with running a rating company and a Rating Quality Assurance Providership in this expanding industry. Jordi is committed to bringing her organizational, project management, and leadership skills to advocate for providerships at RESNET while rigorously upholding the RESNET QA gold standard.

Michael Matthews

With over 20 years of experience in residential energy efficiency, working in both retrofit and new construction projects, Michael has collaborated with tradespeople, builders, realtors, utilities, QA providers, Home Energy Raters, and municipalities, providing consulting and training to enhance sustainable practices and process improvement. Michael is passionate about pushing new construction to improve and evolve to help future homeowners understand the impact of energy consumption needs of their homes and communities.

Paulette McGhie

For over 20 years Paulette has demonstrated expertise in the HERS® industry with significant experience in California and Utah. She has a vast understanding of residential construction and energy efficiency programs, Title 24, International Energy Conservation Code, utility incentives, HERS H20, WaterSense, Net Zero Energy Ready Homes, and Energy Star versions 3.1, 3.2, and 3.4. Working with production builders, Ms. McGhie was able to successfully contract HERS testing and above code program certifications in Northern California and worked with a HERS Rating Company to open the Utah housing market.

Ryan Moore

Ryan has been a passionate advocate for sustainability since 1987, blending his hands-on experience with a commitment to environmental stewardship. Starting his career on a residential framing crew, he developed an in-depth understanding of the building process from the ground up. Over the years, Ryan’s journey has taken him from the forests of Honduras, where he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer advocating for the proper management of national parks, to co-founding Tropical Butterfly Farm & Gardens, where he applied his construction skills and entrepreneurial spirit.

He also played a pivotal role as Director of Education and Training at The International Ecotourism Society, helping to promote sustainable travel practices. Most recently, Ryan led Green Insight, LLC, a RESNET Provider and rating company, as Managing Director for over 13 years, overseeing thousands of HERS ratings and guiding countless others as a trusted industry leader.

Clara Hedrick

With her varied nonprofit administrative and management experience, Clara Hedrick assists with RESNET standards development, general administration, and event planning. Clara is based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Noah Kibbe

Noah Kibbe provides administrative support for RESNET Standards, committee, and TestHelp. Based out of Columbus, OH, Noah has an extensive background in customer service and technical support.

Neal Kruis

RESNET Energy Modeling Director

Neal Kruis has been developing building energy modeling software since 2007. He is the Vice President of Big Ladder Software and has been contracted as RESNET’s Energy Modeling Director since 2018. He has a Ph.D. in Architectural Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Neal is a core developer of the Department of Energy’s EnergyPlus simulation engine and the California Simulation Engine (CSE) used for residential Title 24 compliance calculations. He is an active member of ASHRAE Technical and Standards committees (TC 4.7 “Energy Calculations”, SPC 140 “Method of Test for Evaluating Building Performance Simulation Software”, SPC 205 “Representation of Performance Data for HVAC&R and Other Facility Equipment”, SPC 229 “Protocols for Evaluating Ruleset Implementation in Building Performance Modeling Software”). Neal also serves on the board of the U.S. affiliation of the International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA-USA).
