Proposed Addendum 59 revises the MINHERS® Chapter 2 to set clear HERS® Modeler skills criteria for certification of new HERS® Raters and recertification of current HERS® Raters. Currently certified HERS® Raters are grandfathered in as HERS® Modelers. However, HERS® Modelers are now required to have professional development to retain the certification for modeling HERS® Ratings. To maintain consistency in the requirements as well as to improve modeling consistency, the Addendum will require HERS® Raters to meet the recertification requirements for HERS® Modelers as part of their 18 hours of Professional Development. The HERS® Rater training will include HERS® Modeler training for new Raters seeking certification and HERS® Rater capabilities will include those of a HERS® Modeler.
